An article in The Telegraph claim two new Dark Age series coming next year to UK TV.
Beowulf on ITV will be a 13 part series
link
The second is set in 872 called 'The Last Kingdom'
I hope both are great.
Time to buy 'glut of Raven's or Dux Brittanianum?

Nice to see shows like this scheduled. It's certainly not the dark ages for historical programming. grin

We'll see how they do for costumes. I'm a stickler for that. I recall the BBC Robin Hood show that was out a few years ago, costumes failed to impress. Even Vikings (coming back on soon IIRC) didn't impress either…

I want to be excited but somehow I am feeling disappointed already……

I hear you Cerdic. Still hope for the best.

Let's hope its not more PC contrived tripe……..!

It will be Atlantis/Merlin PC rubbish again. Everything British TV do now is all too nice and heartwarming.

Game of Thrones has set the standard they need to reach.

It's funny, when I was growing up back in the '70s and '80s, American TV was warm and fuzzy, British TV was gritty. Example being contrast the two Federations, the Americans had the nice (Communist?) Federation in Star Trek, while we Brits had the rather brutal Federation of Blakes 7. I know which I would rather live under and I know which I'd rather watch on telly… 8^)

I suspect it will be a Dark Ages version of The Musketeers, which would be disappointing…

What was it the producer of Musketeers said, "people who want a straight copy of Dumas' Musketeers are boring"? Something like that…

Still, unless it is truly awful, I will still watch it…

Rather gloomy outlook for the Dark Ages, how apt!

If they get the weapons and costumes right, I won't object to a bit of fantastic story-telling.

The new series of Atlantis is at least watchable now that it's got a bit more oomph !

If they really could do a Viking-era historic saga with the pace an grit of GOT I for one would be very happy.
