Got 5 club members together a couple weeks ago to play Warpath 1.0. It's my favorite way to have massive battles with the 40k armies now that I no longer play 40k. Of course we couldn't stop there so my buddy wrote up some nice rules for Titans and Superheavies that I think fit the streamlined nature of 1.0 very well. I may have to give this a try. My feelings towards 40K are very similar to yours, love the figs hate the rules.

They really are a great set of rules for this kind of game. Fast, streamlined, and well suited for massive games, but definitely still capturing the general flavor of a 40k game. You'll find a link to the 1.0 rules on the blog post.
