Got 5 club members together a couple weeks ago to play Warpath 1.0. It's my favorite way to have massive battles with the 40k armies now that I no longer play 40k. Of course we couldn't stop there so my buddy wrote up some nice rules for Titans and Superheavies that I think fit the streamlined nature of 1.0 very well. The full battle report, my feelings about Warpath 1.0 for apocalypse sized games and our rules for Titans and Superheavies are all here:

A few pics to whet your appetite.

I may have to give this a try. My feelings towards 40K are very similar to yours, love the figs hate the rules.

They really are a great set of rules for this kind of game. Fast, streamlined, and well suited for massive games, but definitely still capturing the general flavor of a 40k game.

You'll find a link to the 1.0 rules on the blog post.
