I love the GASLIGHT ruleset. Honestly, they're my favorite set of rules out of any I've read, period. I've recently come into possession of a big stack of Ancients figures – Greeks, Persians, Amazons, etc. I'd like to do some skirmish gaming using these figures, ideally using GASLIGHT. I figure I could get a good "Mythic" game going using the rules for mysterious beasts to generate things like minotaurs, harpies, Cyclopes, etc. Any of the GASLIGHT supplements have rules for armor and shields? I'm thinking they'd represent a flat decrease of the figure's likelihood of getting hit, but I wanted to check to see if there were rules already. |

I think there is a variant for Ancient/Medievals. It was never published for sale, but has turned up on the internet. You might want to ask the writers. Grelber |

Thanks for your interest and enthusiam for GASLIGHT. There ARE rules for armor in GASLIGHT. They were part of To Be Continued… by GASLIGHT, the pulp supplement, and are on page 74 of the GASLIGHT Compendium. To Be Continued… was designed for players to control just four or five figures, so figures had hit points that were reduced by wounds. To Be Continued might be the best flavor of GASLIGHT for the genre you described. Essentially, after a hit, you roll a d6 for hit location: heard, right arm, left arm, body, body, and legs. Then, depending on the amount of armor worn (e.g., leather, chain, plate), the armor reduces damage by some number of points. For instance, chain mail provides 4 points of protection in the body. For other flavors of GASLIGHT, armor was rolled up into the Save number. A unit with a shield (say desert tribesmen) might get a slightly better Save number in melee to account for the shield, but get no bonus against firearms. Buck Surdu |
