"The Chinese government reportedly will not sell the new J-20—China's first stealth fighter—to foreign countries. Not coincidentally, the United States adopted a similar policy regarding its own F-22 stealth fighter. The revelation of the apparent export ban comes as a surprise. Since the Chengdu-built J-20's 2011 debut, Western analysts have assumed the large, angular, twin-engine fighter would, like most Chinese weapons, become an export commodity. Instead, it seems Beijing wants to keep the J-20's high-end military capabilities all to itself. Cash isn't worth giving up the radar-evading warplane's secrets…" Full article here link Amicalement Armand |

Are we really sure they're not exporting it? After all, can't see it, right? Hmmmmm… |

Did they have anyone interested in buying any? It's easy to say no to non-existent sales. And Chortle may be right, the real secret may be that it's overhyped. |

Perhaps the real reason they aren't selling is because it doesn't fly yet? The J-20 is still in the prototype stage and still doesn't have a finalized engine design. |

Did they have anyone interested in buying any? I'm sure Uncle Sam would have been good for a handful. Perhaps the real reason they aren't selling is because it doesn't fly yet? Wait, are we talking about the Chinese Stealth jet or the Iranian Stealth jet? I get so confused sometimes… |

This is about as much news as it is that humans need to breathe to live. Anyone that even vaguely follows Chinese military developments would know top-of-line gear is generally not available for export. It's all earmarked for PLA needs which is still mainly equipped with obsolete junk. Their industrial capability doesn't allow them to build on a big enough scale to meet all PLA needs. The Chinese have actual export grade equipment that is available for sale e.g. JF-17 or MBT2000. Occasionally they'll sell top of line gear but only when it's massive in political power increase (e.g. proposed sale of advanced IADS to NATO member Turkey). But then War is Boring should really be called "We Are Clueless About War." |
