I went on the website to register and to also sign up to run a couple of games and I see that registration is closed. For some reason, I thought that I had more time. Does anyone know if there is still a way to get my games in the PEL? If not, it is my own fault for being late signing up this year! I emailed HMGS, but have not heard back yet.

Thanks – Allen

Website says it doesn't close until the 12th. I just tried my account and it let me get to the form to fill out for a game. Did you sign in under your account (if you aren't signed in the options don't all show up), and then in the yellow box to the left go to Cold Wars and GM registration (member or guest)?

Also make sure you are on the new HMGS site:

hmgs.site-ym.com

And lastly the "online registration is closed" you see on the convention page is for signing up to play in games not registering to run games. They won't open that until they have the PEL done.

And as usual on these things I can't remember either my user name or password so it is going to make registering a game a huge PITA.

A lot of companies used to require you to do this to buy stuff on their websites. I guess a lot of them stopped because people stopped buying stuff.

My account is active and just to be sure I went ahead and paid for next year even though I am already paid through January, 2015. So is it too late be added to the PEL then?

Thanks for the help.

The site will let you reset your password, all you need is the email address that you registered with. It will then send you a link to reset your password (and tell you your username!!). I had to do it too because I couldn't remember either, took less than 1 minute.

Razor7811 Dec 2014 10:02 a.m. PST

The site says you have until midnight Dec 12 (tomorrow)to register a game to ensure it will be in the PEL (and get in free), so I'd say if you get your game in today it will be in the PEL. After midnight on the 12 you have until 3 Feb to register a game but it WON'T be in the PEL and you WON'T get in free.

Once you log in then the GM Registration link will be available from the list in yellow on the left of the page.

Got it, I was originally confused by the registration closed message. Thank you for the help!

I'm still waiting for my reset to come through.

Razor7811 Dec 2014 11:12 a.m. PST

Check your spam folder to make sure it's not there. I got mine within seconds of requesting it. Also not sure if you have more than 1 email address, but make sure its the one you originally registered with.

I registered my event today with no difficulties after I too had to have my password reset last night.

I think we're confusing GM game registration with event attendee registration. Not sure why you'd want to pre-register but not sign up for a game/event.

Razor7812 Dec 2014 6:01 a.m. PST

Saber6, that "closed" is referring to the portion for attendees to register for the convention and "PLAY" games not for GMs to "RUN" games. As the GMs are still inputting their games and the PEL hasn't even been started, that's why its closed. It will open 10 Jan and run through 17 Feb.

The GM registration is solely for GM to input their games. To have your game included in the PEL and get free admittance into the convention your game must be in by midnight EST today.

For a GM to register a game they must first login and then select Cold wars \ GM registration (either member or guest) which will take them to the registration form to fill out and submit their game.

GMs that register a game can then sign up to play in other games, buy t-shirts, get a flea market spot etc., starting 10 Jan just like everyone else. The difference is if they made the PEL deadline and other criteria they aren't charged the attendance fee when they register to attend and play games

So I can't preregister to attend the Con two months out?

No way in hell I'm waiting in that line to register at the Con. Its been multiple hours in the past. If I can't pre-reg I'm not coming.

The fact that the prereg is closed before the PEL is even created is ridiculous.

Demi- Re-read the messages.
GM Reg is closed.

Pre-Reg for attendees starts Jan. 10th when the PEL is posted.

Fair enough.

A different message on the web site would have made this not an an issue though. Registration isn't closed – its never been opened.

The link should read – PENDING (APPROX ETA 1/10/15) and no one would have been confused.

historygamer02 Jan 2015 9:20 a.m. PST

Odd that "they" didn't post a single thing on TMP – all the posts were driven by attendees/GMs. Not sure how that helps grow the convention, let alone the hobby.

Dan is the outstanding exception to this regarding HMGS and the FI con he oversees. He is a model for the others.

capncarp05 Jan 2015 9:06 a.m. PST

The HMGS Calendar shows Online Registration for Cold Wars to open Jan 10 2015 and close Feb 13 2015, and I have a screen shot to prove it.
The instructions say that the discount is only applicable to current members, and to be careful when applying online to ensure your membership is up to date.

Love to register to put on two games, but I can't remember my account or password and there's no help I've written them through the contact lines many times but no answer. I've tried setting up a new account, but no good, says I already have an account.

Same with Fall-In.

Oh well.

OSchmidt:
The site works from your email; if you put your email address in the "Forgot my password" field, it will send you an updated password and tell you what your username for the account is.

Otto, this is what shows in the HMGS member list for your name:

Copied over from Cold War PEL thread:
Also, the deadline for online registration ends at 12am February 14. that means 14Feb 2015 at 00:00:00, or one second after 23:59:59 on February 13th. This may cause some confusion and hard feelings if people are thinking they can pre-register on Feb 14th. Perhaps making the closing time 23:59:59 on the last full day would be preferable?

Could Dan Poniatowski please address this and clarify it for the HGMS membership? Was it intended that we have the 14th for registration, or does it indeed end at midnight on Feb 13?

The reason this is particularly important to me is that I ran afoul of a misinterpreted message on the HGMS website for Fall In last year. I just want to be absolutely sure of when we need to have all our stuff together this time around.
