Alrighty, I am doing a heretical DBA 3.0 army (as yet undetermined) using Wargames Factory plastic Orcs as the soldiers within a historical army organizarion. I am looking for a source of inexpensive wolves to go with them, to use as cavalry or light horse (on their own, as opposed to mounts; more like Beasts in Hordes of the Things.)

Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

The Ral Partha Wolf Pack was my personal favorite -- seven poses in one pack. Of course, exactly where to find Ral Partha is an all new adventure, these days.

Here's one pointer, look around from there if you're on the opposite side of the pond:

Those are available directly from Ironwind Metals link Do you know how big they are? I seem to recall them being on the small side for 25mm, about knee high to a 28mm fig. I could be mistaken.

The Ral Partha sculpts are somewhat small, almost "life-sized" compared to a 28mm fig. Thus they're probably too small for your cavalry needs.

For cheap, look at the variety of Mage Knight, D&D Mini, etc type figures. You can probably get them for about $1 USD/figure. There's a number of different types.

Even if you don't buy from them, Troll & Toad is a great place just to see what's available since they have pictures for all the models, even if they're not in stock.

A lot of the older games, like Mage Knight, no longer have websites to see the figures.

Check out the Sgt Major miniatures Wolves (formerly Vendel). They are intended for Goblin riders, but they look pretty big. Perhaps you can find a comparative pic somewhere. The wolves are available separately and the price is certainly right at less than $2 USD each.

Also, Forlorn Hope has the Grenadier orc wolf riders. I don't know if the wolves can be sold separately, but it's worth inquiring.

The same thing for Kalistra.

Have you considered just buying some Orc wolf Riders and using some of the extra plastic bits and heads to bring them into the same visual style? There are a number of relatively affordable Orc Wolf Rider miniatures.
