What are the best reference books for the uniforms of James' army in Ireland? I know info is sparse but I'm looking to paint up an army in 10mm and would like to get it as near to right as possible…

Cheers
Ian

Sapherson's booklet Willian III at War Scotland and Ireland and McNally's book on Aughrim and his Osprey on the Boyne.

Also visit the league of augsburg website loads of info there and its free!

As a rule of thumb old regiments wore red and new regiments grey/white.

You're very welcome Sandinista I guess you will be using Pendracken they look lovely.

Sandinista11 Dec 2014 12:21 a.m. PST

Yes, Pendraken will be used. Clib's sculpts are delightful some of the best 10mm I've ever seen.

Oh Bugger11 Dec 2014 3:14 a.m. PST

You can get your flags from Ray's Don't Throw a 1 blog. Very nice indeed and free!

Yeah Clib has the gift I already have my armies in 15mm Essex and Irregular otherwise I'd have gone 10mm too.

I've one unit left to do Gordon O'Niell's Dragoons which will either get a red coat and breeches with white facings or the reverse. The O'Neill flag being red and white. I'm thinking redcoat is more likely.

I make my own flags, it is quite relaxing grin
I also created a lot for Pendraken which they have started to sell at shows but not yet on the website. They are ECW, Poles & Turks and medievals

If needed I can put up the williamite as well.

Hope thats of a little guidance.
