Decided to take Release the Hounds and my new blind system for a test drive. Scenario suitable for all tactical games. Found here: platoonforward.blogspot.com Enjoy Joe |

Terrement, I play solo 90% myself. My tactical rules ( Release the hounds) are ready to go. Unfortunatley I want to get Grunt's Forward (asymetrical land combat) done first. My scenario generator with the campaign game ( Flotilla Forward) is really not there yet. The character part will play similar to Squadron Forward but the challenge has been the scenarios. Too random and it feels random. No guess work at all and it isn't as much fun for the solitaire opponent. I think I cracked the code now (even had two blinds be shadows) but that is only with one game behind me. It will be awhile- sorry Joe |

I like your bases. Did you make them? |

I also mainly play solo and am interested in your blind system. I'm intrigued by your "B" class DD. The "B" class had twin funnels and by 1943 had their gun armament reduced to improve the A/S outfit. You model has a single funnel and lattice mast making it look like one of he later War Emergency classes. |

Rallynow, No. There are from Old Dominion Gameworks. I just painted the etchings white. They are nice. The annoying thing is postage cost as much as the bases! Pontius, Do you have Platoon Forward? It works similar to that. The trick is to have some unpredictability but still allow a realistic deployment and a balanced game. I will probably give it another go this weekend. You know your ships! That is a model of the "T" class. I did play it with only 3 guns however. Good Show. I have only had one other person notice a ship class misnamed in my pictures. Joe |

Joe, I don't have Platoon Forward, in fact I haven't played land games for years. All my WW2 naval is played with my own set of rules, which I amend slightly to suit the scenario. I'm always interested in mechanisms which contribute to the element of surprise in games As to recognising ships, I like to think I'm a good at recognition of RN ships, at least those post 1918. I won't comment on "T13" though, but I can count funnels :-) |

Pontius, The basic premise is to have different types of blinds so you can have a realistic set up ahead of time. This is actually the easy part- the hard part is to have the system present the player with a competitive game each time regardless of his starting forces. (ie if I attack with 2 german TB boats or 4 german S boats) You are also correct on the T13. That is an Ebling class TB. Their pennant numbers started with 22. I was just too lazy to make a new pennant. Man, I am going to have to up my game! Cheers Joe |
