I ask since most of the time the creatures seem to be dripping fluids by the gallon:

So, just curious, how do you prefer them painted? Wet or dry?

Several years ago, I accidentally painted my QRF Xenomorphs with a Citadel Gloss Coat, it was incredibly thick, and I didn't know at the time to thin it. Long story short, it came out so thick, dripped in places and looks like they're kinda slimy which IMHO is fitting for the Aliens depicted in the movies.

Wet worked for me.

Wet is way to go for me!

Wet, dry just seems so rough. ;)

I try for a mix, wet around the mouth/ head area, slowly becoming drier (although I keep a gloss sheen across the board).

Dry for me. A bunch of drunken xenomorphs can become real troublemakers.

I use glosscoat on my aliens including the facehuggers and eggs. So I guess Wet. I dullcote the bases for contrast.

I usually drybrush with some slightly glossy dark gray paint. It's enough to make them look lubricated without being drippy.

I slimed up these 10mm Nurglings for my 6mm Chaos/alien forces … dry brushed with clear gloss … easy …

Does it seem strange that the blood is concentrated acid, but drool isn't? Drool, preceding even bite-and-chew, is the first part of digestion.

Ask any fly. Or, your can of coke as it slowly collects sprayed saliva…

I like stuff dripping from the mouth, but none of my bugs have any. Any glisten is attempted with dri-brushed highlights.

All that dripping wetness must be the result of a bad Thyroid.

Great work there, very evocative!

I went for a flatter look. Tamiya's rubber is about the right not-black, drybrush and "domes" in german grey. Not quite the best, but works pretty well when you need Hadley's Hope instead of the Nostromo levels of Aliens.
