As promised we thought we would start showing you some renders of the French Artillery set we are working on. I am sure you will agree Emel is doing a stunning job on these figures.
This set will be French foot artillery in pre Bardin uniform with 8 and 12 pounder Gribeauval system guns. You will get covered shakos, un-covered shakos, Bicornes and Imperial Guard bearskins. The figures are nice and easy to build due to the coat tails, sword Bayonets and cartridge boxes being all one piece which plugs in to the bottom! Arms are interchangeable. There are many more figures to show and arm and head variants, these are just a sample with more images and news to follow. Before we hear howls of 'why oh why are there no XI system guns and Bardin uniforms for Waterloo?'. They are coming straight after these. So you can field that Grand battery in style by the Summer! link |

Those are really really nice. Its great to see you back doing Naps again although I do collect Ancients as well. Any thing planned for the Austrians such as Plastic Hungarians? I think these would sell really well but cost prohibitive in metal because of the numbers needed per battalion. Hint Hint ! :) |

Bardin uniforms coming too? I wasn't expecting that. Excellent news! |

Wow, very nice figures!! Thanks for posting the update Steve. |

These are indeed great figures |

Looking forward to the Bardin uniformed gunners. These look very good. |

Now adding Imperial Guard Bearskins is a good idea, to accompany the pre Bardin Coats, with the cutaway lapels. I have four Perry Foot Guard pieces, each with a different crew. More would be welcome. They'll need fringed epaulettes but Greenstuff can cope with that! |
STEVE LBMS | 09 Dec 2014 9:27 a.m. PST |
Arms with fringed Epaulettes will be in the set as well. The Guards had fringed Epaulettes but also quite a few Artillery regiments wore them against regulations to mark their elite status. Regards, Steve. |

OK your in my good books again :) how many guns and crew? Same as the British box?. The bottom coat thing is clever. My biggest wish is that you would make retro fit kits (in metal) for the older infantry kits. (The plastic muskets are terribly flimsy and not easy to fix when the bayonets go buy buy from ham fisted players (yes myself included :x) with a bit of clever sculpting you could do about 5 marching and 5 advance, shooting load bits with slightly heftier muskets sell in packs of 30 (3 of each spruce)I'd buy and I'm sure a lot of others too (robust but light would be the ideal IMO) would you entertain some thought on this idea Steve? Cheers and very excited buy (Freudian slip there :) these. |

Clever! Fringed epaulettes included………well thought out. I could even then see Horse artillery conversions for the Bardin figures anyway, just by changing the belt/short sword/bayonet combination and ammo pouch for a giberne and light cavalry sword…easily available from Perry range. These deserve to do really well |

Magnificent – well done Steve! And next a new British set? (grovel, grovel) |
STEVE LBMS | 09 Dec 2014 4:39 p.m. PST |
Very pleased with the reaction to the first images of the set. Emel should have the poses for the wheel turning and ramming home done pretty soon. Hi Zargon It is very unlikely we will look at metal production again. We sold off our metal range due to the impracticality or near impossibility of making a profit when you have to outsource your metal casting. We could not do the casting ourselves as there just is not the time or manpower or space. You should have a word with a company like Wesphalia miniatures. They do some wonderful figures and extras. They did say they were doing heads to fit our French quite some time back but I have not seen anything as yet. You should drop them a line and see if it is something they might be interested in? The plastic we use on all our sets for the past few years is the same mid to dark grey which has more flexibility. Lord Hill some new British would be great. Hopefully we can get some more out in the fullness of time. Steve. |

French chasseur a cheval, with all the different headwear would also be a bestseller. |
wargame insomniac | 10 Dec 2014 10:59 a.m. PST |
@gunnertog – agreed. IIRC Chasseurs a Cheval are the most common French cavalry regiment, but currently only available in metal. The Perry's have already done French Heavy Cavalry, Dragoons and Hussars in plastic, so there would be little point in Victrix duplicating those. But plastic Chasseurs a Cheval would fill a nice gap and should prove popular. |
Lord Hill | 10 Dec 2014 11:48 a.m. PST |
I agree that plastic Chasseurs a Cheval, and also their British equivalent – light dragoons – would be great. I understand why hussars get done first – who can resist the glamour? However, in reality Chasseurs a Cheval/Light Dragoons were more common but there are no plastic sets for these (yet!) It takes me back to childhood days when Airfix armies of Old Guard fought Airfix armies of Highlanders. Hardly representative of reality! No post on this subject by me would be complete without once more pushing for British heavy cavalry – with one box you could do all the….blah blah blah… Steve, do you think you guys will venture into cavalry anytime soon? The horse in the Victrix Austrian set looks great, so come on! |

Nice but very expensive at £7.50 GBP per gun. |
wargame insomniac | 04 Feb 2015 10:20 a.m. PST |
£7.50 GBP per gun isn't bad IMO. Perry artillery is £9.00 GBP and Warlord French artillery is £12.00 GBP. With Victrix you'll get wider variety of poses and choice of headgear to reprsenet various units. I already have some Perry French artillery and will gladly add at least one battery of Victrix when they do their Bardin unformed sets later. I might even buy one of the earlier sets just for Peninsular. |
gunnertog | 04 Feb 2015 11:39 a.m. PST |
1815 Guy where did you get the price for this set from, not seen anything on Victrix website regarding price. Also the British artillery set came with limbers, which although they were without teams were still useful for adding battlefield realism. |

Steve/Julian Any update for a release date, will they be available for Salute? |
