Remember back in 2005, when I promised pictures of those Sumerian chariot stands in 6mm?

I finally got the chance to read my copy of Jenny Dolfen's "Darkness Over Cannae". It was pretty good. Mostly focused on the battle and with her great illustrations, it was a crisp fun read. Did a good job of conveying some ideas of the difficulties of command, and the exhaustion of battle. Well worth a read. It would be a great present for a teenager of any gender who might get interested in history thanks to it. It would be cool if she did a whole series.

My signed hardback from the Indiegogo campaign just arrived yesterday, and really looking forward to reading it!

The delay was no fault of Jenny's, she posted it from Germany to the US on 13 October. She emailed the pdf, and was wiling to send me another copy a few weeks ago, but I'm not short of reading material and was willing to wait a bit longer to see if the postal snails might eventually deliver it.

During that delivery timespan, I had also ordered a kit from Minairons in Spain on 7 Oct, and that arrived on 24 November. Transatlantic shipping is generally pretty spotty these days, so don't be upset with the small businesses if any orders get tied up in the snail races!

I ordered mine a couple of days ago. I also live in the U.S. I figured about six weeks. Thanks for the information! Mike Adams

Copy ordered, hopefully an XMAS read – Jenny was very good about letting me know when it was sent. I am hoping the usual 2 weeks from Europe to OZ, strange it takes so long across the Atlantic Pond!

The shipping times for the Indiegogo campaign have been highly variable for each package! I got the far end of the bell curve. Others in the US have been getting theirs over a span of time.

I got my copy and it is magnificent. As a long-time friend of the author, volunteer 'editor' and model for one of the illustrations, my opinion isn't exactly unbiased, but this is still a wonderful book. Highly recommended!
