Just an idle thought. Dec 7th will only come around once every 365 days, and only on every one in seven of those it will be on a Sunday. OK.

As an Irish passport holder who has lived all his life in the UK, who has never been west of San Francisco but always meant to (I'll never forget I had a freebie TWA ticket in 1983 but did not use it….bit like passing out in my second Grateful Dead concert in UK and missing the whole thing) did anyone do anything to remember Pearl Harbour (or even Harbor as Microsoft insists on reminding me) today?

Nope, must admit I didn't.

I'm not in particular need of reminders of this or that event in a long string of events. The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour is just one of many many events. It had no direct impact on any of my ancestors, many of them were already veterans of armed conflict so I just have to wrap the whole lot up into a singularity and I remember all of them all of the time.

While I don't do anything special to remember the attack on Pearl, I make sure my sons know its history.

My grandfather was on board his ship at San Diego when the news came over the wire of the attack. So, he did not have that event branded in his memory as well as those who were actually there.

I flew my flag.

I stopped by the USS SIlversides today after church, It was around 1PM, right about the time my grandfather would have gotten the news at work. God Bless and Keep them all.

I never forget it, as another fatal tragedy accured in my life, some time ago on this day.

The local warbirds were flying around in formation all morning.
