My wife is using some of my terrain to create a miniature "Christmas Village" in the living room (which I am actually glad to have her do (in part because it justifies hobby purchases to her)). I would like to make it look a bit more "wintery" by adding snow &tc., but only something that can be removed easily. Ideally I would also like to be able to do the same thing for gaming, but if the result is too fragile for gaming that is certainly acceptable. Any suggestions? |

What sort of surfaces does your terrain consist of? For example, if we're talking hills with green flock, I would not recommend powdering them with white, as the flock will not want to let go of that. |

YouTube link Talks about using Baking Soda a few minutes in, then other releated stuff. link Has several suggestions, in specific about decorations and seasonal displays. I'd heard of the baking soda for gaming minis before, but I've never used it to give you firsthand info. |

The simplest solution is to lay a white sheet over your existing hills etc. Then place normal terrain pieces on top of that such as muddy roads, rivers etc. Trees need to be either evergreens or bare. They can be left as is or 'dusted' with your desired snow as long as it shakes off easily. For buildings card cut to the shape of the roof, covered with snow and placed on top can be quite effective. The ultimate solution, particularly if you have terrain boards with features cut into them is to create winter boards and winter buildings such as the great buildings from Grand Manner. Well I can dream…. |

Yes, a grubby white cloth with normal terrain on it looks fine. |
