I picked up a set of Fireforge's foot sergeants simply because I thought they looked like a fun set to put together and paint up. Medievals is a new period for me, and I'm looking for a set of battles these figures will be useful for. In my research I think I've narrowed down some areas I'm hoping to collect and play… would the Fireforge crossbows work for these? Baron's War English vs. Scots (William Wallace, the Bruce, etc) Crusades in the Holy Land (1st through 3rd) Any other battles / periods I should be researching that would fit? Thanks! |

Yes, they will work for almost all those periods. Not the 1st Crusade, but anything 1150 to 1350. |

Pretty much anything from late C12th to mid C14th I would say. If you want to add a specific conflict to your list I would suggest the guelph/ghibbeline conflicts in Italy – King Manfred, Charles of Anjou and so forth. |

The whole current Fireforge range seems to be primarily aimed around 13th century, though the foot sergeants certainly look like they could also be used for late 12th and early 14th century as suggested above. |

Crossbows did n't really figure much in the Scottish wars apart from in garrisons. |
