I have all 3 ArmyPinter Quickshade tins and have tried both the Soft and Strong on my models. The models are the 3 rd Continental Cavalry. White coats faced, light blue with buff pants. The Soft tone didn't do much but make the models look "dirty". The Strong tone is too strong and turned the white coats very dark. Too dark. Has anyone experimented with mixing the two? I am assuming that they are compatible and would mix without problems. Any advice for mixing. I really need to keep the coats looking white. Thanks. |

It's a case of having to go back and either 'lift' some of the dip from the higher surfaces after dipping, or paint over them in white after varnishing, I'm afraid. |

Did you apply a glossy (very smooth surface) clear-coat prior to the washes? This will help the Quickshade sink, and accumulate, in the folds, more than on the higher surfaces. Try it on a practice figure, first. Get a plastic Army Man figure, if possible, and just paint some acrylic white on it, then hit it with the glossy clear-coat, followed by the Quickshade. Be certain all coats are dry prior to adding the next coat. Cheers! |

With nattily dressed units, maybe try thinned down Dark Shade. White outfits are best shaded by grey. Try brushing on the Quickshade tin. You can shade blue with Quickshade Ink blue, if you have it. |

What do you thin the Quickshade with. Water? |

QS is oil-based, so turps or white spirit. |
