All, It is time for what has become your nightly read ;) Following the Brits' successful escape from the German encirclement, they immediately go on the counterattack, looking to catch the Germans dispersed and off balance. Lt Page organizes his men, gathers up what armor is available, and launches his men at the enemy forces.
The Brits, with 7 rifle squads, a CO stand, an MG, and a Sherman tank (75mm).
The German force, with five rifle squads, a CO stand, and a mortar. The Germans do not have an anti-tank weapon: only the PaK-38 is available as its 1943, so no Panzerfausts, and I don't have any Panzerschrecks for my Afrika Korps troops (though I suppose I could have borrowed one from my late-war Germans, now that I think about it). The Germans only hope to defeat the British Sherman is to close assault it with infantry. The Germans went with a more mobile force, opting to defeat the British (win the game) by destroying the Brit hold outs before the Brit relief force can get there, then fall back, conserving their force. It wouldn't quite work out that way though…
Starting positions: in the top left (NW) corner are the Brit hold-outs and the German force, while the Brit relief force enters from the bottom right.
With Germans at top, and Brits at left and right, a lone German rifle squad (bottom center) rushes forward, looking to close the distance to the Brit Sherman.
And it's time to go for the tank, so LCpl Droll leads the German 4th Squad in a charge to close with the Sherman, but the coax chatters and the German squad receives a knockdown! Sgt Nelson then orders his driver to pivot and advance, and the Sherman rolls over the suppressed German squad, then backs up, and runs over them again. Then backs up, and runs over them one more time. For the rest of the report, but please check the blog: link One more fight to write up and post. V/R, Jack |

Sherman driver is confirmed for a jerk :-) Also nice to see some Brit Sherman action. I love the odd looking British tanks but Shermans in foreign service don't get enough love. |

You'll notice since you aren't fighting reds in these games, your luck has improved quite significantly :-) |

Good Lord, I don't what happened to my spelling/grammar in that post. That should have been: "Oh, quit being so sensitive! And I thought you only love communists ;)" And don't worry, I'll soon get back to stomping all traces of communism from the earth, just way until I start my 90's USMC campaign. I haven't started it yet because it's actually too close to the FFL campaign; set in an alternative timeline during the 1990s, a USMC task force (a 'Super' MEU) rushes from hotspot to hotspot. Someday… I'm more excited about a WWII campaign that follows a single unit throughout the length of the entire war, touching every front/major campaign. I've been thinking of following a German Kampgruppe all the way through WWII, from Poland to France to North Africa to Stalingrad to Kharkov to Kursk to Italy to Korsun to Normandy to Holland to the Ardennes to Hungary to Silesia, using these rules. Whaddaya think about that? V/R, Jack |

I thought it was some sort of simplified English taught to marines to make up for their limited vocabulary :-) Reminds me a lot of the old Panzer General SSI game on the computer though. Might want to adapt the force rolls along the way. Get more and better support at appropriate times, then end the campaign fighting increasingly desperate battles with the pitiful few survivors. End it either in the Reichstag ruins holding off until the end or fighting through to the Elbe river. |

A campaign for the entire war! I would have said that was ambitious, except you played 18 games in a Vietnam campaign earlier in the year. What about your other projects, are they not calling to you? |
Just Jack | 06 Dec 2014 7:40 a.m. PST |
Yes, the entire war (muhahahahahahahahahahah)!!! And don't forget my ~20 games of 'All Americans.' And yes, the other projects are calling to me, stop antagonizing me ;) I'm telling you, bust out your 6mm stuff and play a game of this, you'll have a great time, maybe 90 minutes to set up and play your first game. Thanks Ivan. Read and digested! Jack – I have other projects too. My current one is to get out the 1/2 table tennis table over Christmas break and play a few of the Operation Jupiter skirmish games with my 20mm stuff and my own rules. I looked at the scenarios (there are 30!), and they use almost exactly the same number of figures and vehicles I do for my game (my sweet spot) about 20-30 figures and 2-6 vehicles. I will be very excited if it happens. |
