Artist Benjamin Harff has executed an illuminated Silmarillion as his master's thesis. It was clearly a labor of love: "For my exam it would have been enough to do calligraphy for only one or two chapters. But I didnīt want to have a book with maybe twenty printed and 380 empty pages!". Although Harff began the project for academic reasons, he would like to see it published if he can secure the support of the Tolkien estate. I hope that he does; I for one would want a copy.

Beautiful, but I expect the estate lawyers to be knocking on his door to collect their percentage of his diploma any minute now.

That would stand up to any medieval text. Simply beautiful.
