I'm thinking of putting together a small Persian army for colonial wars and wondered if there was any uniform information out there. I was pleased to find this link. link They will certainly be colourful. |

Well a 100 piece 15mm £25.00 GBP Army Deal is now winging its war from Irregular Miniatures so I'm in business. Apparently Persian officers dyed their beards red all ranks wore Kohl around the eyes. |

I should say some of the trousers in the drawings look yellow, its just shading, they should be white. |

One of the links I would recommend is link It has pictures of Persian/Iranian Uniforms with a different chapter or two on each era. Many of the pictures come from the 2,500 celebration book published in the 70s with uniform plates (I have a copy – but most of the pictures have been produced on one website or another) Rudy Scott Nelson also published a piece on Persian Uniforms An interesting read for some flavor of the mid 1850s is the The war for a Persian Lady by Barbara English For the later part of the colonial times here is a link with some background on the early 1900s link |
