"John Scalzi's 2012 comedic sci-fi novel Redshirts is headed to the small screen. FX has teamed with veteran feature producer Jon Shestack (Dan In Real Life) and producer-director Ken Kwapis (Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants) and his partner Alexandra Beattie to develop a limited series based on the book, which won the 2013 Hugo Award. Search is underway for writers to pen the adaption, with Kwapis set to direct the opening episode. He, Shestack and Beattie executive produce…" Full article here link Amicalement Armand |

I hope it was better than the book. I found it very disappointing. The worst thing Scalzi's written imo. |

I agree about the book. Haven't picked up anything by Scalzi since. |

Nah, I enjoyed it -- A light hearted, goofy, fun homage to Trek. Much different from his usual fare and the song is fun too. YouTube link |

So, wait, will they have to stay away from the narrative written for the show, too? Odd book by the way. I liked some elements of it, and then at the end it got very strange-- a meta book going even more meta, and abandoning the humorous concept almost entirely. While I appreciated what Scalzi was trying to do, for me the book misfired because of that change. And Scalzi has a habit of throwing in profanities for no real narrative reason that I can see; perhaps he thinks it makes a work more realistic? I can understand that in an overtly military novel or a gritty crime drama, but in this setting it just comes off as atonal and unnecessary. So it's an interesting read, but for humor you're better off reading Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy or, more on setting, watching Galaxy Quest, |

Not his best work by a long shot. It had moments but overall it was pretty bland. |

I loved the Old Mans War series but thought Redshirts was a one joke story. It probably sounded great talking it over with friends . Clif |
