Newser) – An Italian WWII pilot who died battling US pilots 70 years ago has been found 13 feet underground, his remains still at the controls of a fighter plane armed with machine guns and cannons, Discovery reports. Lt. Guerrino Bortolani went down in a losing battle against Allied planes on March 11, 1944

Seems the story is around a month or so but looked for a link here and didn't see anything. Sorry if a duplicate, but find these story's fascinating.

Thanks for sharing the story. I always think about what might be under my feet when I walk a battlefield. They truly are the gravesites of the missing.

We do tend to forget those Italians who chose to continue to fight alongside the Germans after Italy's change of heart (and sides)in September 1943.

I wish the article better explained the context of how a crashed fighter plane ended up 13 feet underground.
