One of the lads from the Border Reivers club in Newcastle put on a very impressive Epic game at the Targe show in Kirriemuir earlier this month. As it came 3rd in the Demo game category i though it was worth putting out to a wider audience. Its crammed with figures and buildings and i have put a report on the Blog.

Hope you enjoy.

That scenery is beautiful. Thanks for inspiring the rest of us. Do you get many Epic games of any kind over there? We're doing about 2 a week here of Epic Armageddon, easily our favorite game.

That's actually the first game i have seen but its certainly popular here by all accounts. I think my son would get into it once he has enough of the larger scale stuff.

Magnificent work! What 6mm should be like IMHO.

Markconz30 Nov 2014 4:27 p.m. PST

Very cool!

Stunning. Love the aircraft on the runway.

Does anyone sell the figures for this anymore?

GW stopped early this year. Old stock is still around in a few places I'm told on other forums, but I have difficulty finding UK people with back stock.
There are a number of suitable proxies around but it requires some internet searching to find lists of peoples 6mm figs and what lines up with what in the GW range well – so far as I can find IG, Necron, Tau and Space Marines are fairly well served. Eldar replacements I am having more difficulty with. Either way there are a lot of 6mm sci fi makers out there so there are things to work on.

I still have stacks of Epic stuff unpainted. You have inspired me to dig it out again.

Re your funny name for this blog, I wonder if you ever heard this one before:

This fella from back east goes into a dusty old bar in the American west. He walks in and sees nothing but men and sheep. Men talking to sheep, men buying sheep drinks, men dancing with sheep…so he asks the bartender, "excuse me, but I'm from out of town, what's with all these sheep?"

The bartender says, "out here in the west, we found that sheep are better than women in alot of ways"

The fella says, "you know, I left the east and came out west over troubles with a woman. How does a fella go about getting himself a sheep?"

The bartender directs him to this sheep pen on the edge of town, and he goes out there and picks himself out a nice, well built sheep and goes back to the bar.

When he walks in, everyone stops what they are doing and glares angrily at him. He goes over to the bartender and says, "what's wrong? I thought you said it was ok to bring a sheep in here?"

The bartender leans closer and says, "Mister, that's the sheriff's girl!"

Very nice !!!!!

I've been collecting Epic since '90 and still have a bunch in the paintling que ! Of course it's been augmented by other 6mm Sci-fi as well … DRM, Exodus Wars, TMG, Onslaught, GZG, Old Crow, Microworld, etc., etc. …

Besides eBay … you can get a lot of great 6mm Sci-fi from the companies I mentioned above and others. Also you can readily buy, sell and trade Epic and other 6mm Sci-fi on the Tactical Command site – link

Indeed … also for Eldar, check out DRM – Andrayada & Kraytonians – link and TMG … with more to come … link You can get Exodus Wars, Onslaught and TMG on the Steel Crown website – steelcrowngames.com

Chortle, no i haven't heard that story before but it could easily be relocated to the English/Scottish border where the Reivers spent so much time menacing sheep. Of course that's the link between our club name and the Blog name.

Buying Epic stuff on EBay is a hobby for millionaires!!!!

That's why you use the other companies I listed … evil grin

Mithmee01 Dec 2014 8:31 p.m. PST

Looks good but crammed with miniatures, well…

I have played battles where there were 10 Titans on one side and almost as many on the other side.

Plus lots of other units as well.

Mithmee01 Dec 2014 8:34 p.m. PST

Also for 6mm scale size miniatures I recommend looking into the old Mech War miniatures.

They cover nearly everything that you would need.

Thanks Legion! I'll take a look.

Some great stuff there from those companies, myrm11. And join the Tac Cmd site. You'd be surprised what you'll find there !

mashrewba02 Dec 2014 10:06 a.m. PST

Yes there are lots of other great 6mm stuff around -I particularly like thenDark Realms stuff but nothing quite has the look of a Reaver Titan or Terminators!!!
