That is one impressive looking game!

Out of curiosity, why is so much of the table behind the wall, rather than in front where the battle was to be fought?

Still shaking my head in wonder at all the beautiful figures.

My table is about 12 x 16 feet, much of it is used for terrain, scenic…I have some rather large castles and terrain. It is just where the battle worked out to be for ease of play.

*whisper* Somebody better tell Tom that his gate is not actually black! evil grin

Seriously, that is one impressive game. What rules did you use?

darclegion29 Nov 2014 10:31 a.m. PST

Thanks! I used a mix of homemade house rules. It was a solo game.

Today I am making a Helms Deep table. Very large.

Visually, the only thing missing are the two slag hills, separating the "good guys" from each other. This feature means that effectively two battles were being fought simultaneously with the minions of Mordor throwing themselves upon the totally surrounded defenders like a raging surf. Your game, while very pretty, does not evoke what I see from the book's description. However! you can always refight it as many times as you like and make changes. I've done Helm's Deep but never this one….

Superb!!! What figures did you use for the Dol Amroth soldiers?!

darclegion04 Dec 2014 2:07 p.m. PST

Those are converted Mithril figures. I used some spear arms and sheilds from some BTD elves that I had that I did not like, so I cut and glued and switched out the spear arms. Took me forever, and was kinda expensive. I did the same thing with some of the swords men, converted them into archers, using some Mithril Dale archers, that was expensive too.

Marvelous looking game, thanks for showing us.

Thank you, it was one marked off the list in my LOTR campaign games, a few more to go. Doing Helms Deep now, then Osgilith…then a few more. Probably some 1st Age battles in Beleriand.
