So, can a good, gritty pulp/postapoc/scifi C-119 be made from this Disney toy …

Hi, my name is Cabbie!

… well, decide for yourself here, where we go over the plusses and minuses of this bit of conversion fodder.

Was pondering something similar. You really aced it! The bullet holes are excellent.

Great job……I had similar designs but concluded that it was too big for me…I did get strange looks I the store measuring the plane despite dragging my lad along as 'cover'……I have got a C117 on the go tho' -a table filled for my 20 mm games!

Great Work!
Looks really nice and I think the slightly "Chibi" dimensions are ideal for wargaming as it will take up a bit less space on the table. We already compresse the footprints of our buildings and streets, why not do the same for airplanes?

My son has the "Sideley Spy Jet" a very nice corporate style jet and It would be perfect for wargaming. Most of the "planes" aircraft seem like they could be nice fodder for wargaming once you paint over the eyes.

I saw this in the stores last week and thought the same thing--good conversion material--but ended up not buying because I just couldn't justify it! After seeing your work, though, maybe I need to go take another look.

Nice conversion. (Almaric too.)

I agree that the stubbier footprint makes it more practical for wargaming.

Thanks all, especially Amalric (and I as I posted in his thread a while back, I almost bought four more on Black Friday to make crashed planes).

It is a bit distorted, but not too much. The big difference (depending on how you scale 28mm) is that the wingspan is about 6" short. Also the engines are a bit large, which prevented me from reaching in and making gun emplacements for a C-119 Shadow.

This was a lot of fun … I think I might still get a couple more once I get into our new house.

Outstanding work there. Great work on one of my favorite aircraft. With regard to the toy, the arse end of the fuselage is off too. Have not seen a production variant like that. My father (82nd Airborne) made 55 jumps out of these in the mid 50's.

Insomniac28 Nov 2014 12:50 p.m. PST

What an excellent thread this is… and some great work on the planes :)

I am so glad that I wasn't the only one who saw potential in these… although I was thinking of converting it into a sci-fi dropship.

I didn't buy one though :( … although I may be tempted now that I have seen these ones in here :)

GROSSMAN28 Nov 2014 5:00 p.m. PST

Nice craft, but I think that many bullets in the wing in a row would have cut it off!
Great job.

Twoball Cane28 Nov 2014 5:09 p.m. PST

Came out great! Nice work

War Monkey28 Nov 2014 7:57 p.m. PST

went out looking to see if I could find one of those in a smaller range hoping to find one closer to 15mm size, no such luck. :(
