Hi there, I know this is a long shot, but maybe someone can help me. I need to design some logos as vector graphics (so they can be cut with a laser). Nothing fancy… essentially some rondels with bars and some text around them. Does anyone know of a good free program on the market that I could use? It should be easy enough to operate, since I have hardly any experience with this! Thanks, Burkhard |

Don't forget to check what file formats your laser cutter can work with before you start designing – you don't want to do all the work and then discover your cutter can't open that file type…. |

With Inkscape, there is an extension for doing better DXF exports, oddly called: Better DXF Output. If your laser cutter is one of the Chinese ones, that use RDCAM as software, should quite happily process DXF files. Regards Joseph |

Draftsight from Dassault Systemes is what I use for laser-cutting. Can export direct to dfx and most formats. Pretty full-featured CAD program. link If it is one of the Chinese machines that uses RDCAM, you can find a copy of that and install it on your machine. However, you must get the right version to match the model of the laser you're using, otherwise there will be file compatability issues. |

I'll second Draftsight. I use Autodesk Civil3D all day at the office and this a good freeware of AutoCAD. |
