I just love 'em. The third wargamer I met had beautiful HH Prussian army back in 1970 so this is very nostalgic for me. Doug |

I love these. And I think the paint jobs are great. I love shiny toy soldiers. I assume you use enamels? I paint with acrylics and then use a gloss varnish but somehow it doesn't quite replicate that old school shine. |

What a great job! Love this look. |

Thanks SJ, and everyone else who commented. You're absolutely correct! They are painted from top to toe with Humbrol enamels, and finished off with two coats of Humbrol gloss varnish. I reckon this gives an amazing depth to the colours and enhances the fantastic creamy quality of Humbrol white. |

They do look fantastic. It makes me seriously tempted to try Humbrol enamels again (and I haven't been tempted to do that for over thirty years). I'm not sure whether I can face taking the plunge though. Acrylics dry so fast and it is so easy to cover up after you make a mistake. |

Beautiful figures, full of nostalgia for me. 50 years ago when I was 17, I travelled from Sussex in the UK to London, to buy some of these in the Hinton Hunt shop. It was in a small arcade in Islington. Only one counter and a display back, full of these figures that were hugely expense if those day. I bought two volumes of Fred & lilian Funk's Uniforms of the Napoleon Era in French and twenty Prussian Guardsmen, they were sold singularly in those days. I have the books but alas the soldiers were taken by my sons many years later. Many thanks Wellington man for the memories and the pictures, thank you. |
