Many months ago I embarked on my first attempts at minor conversions with some green stuff to make custom figures for the 6th Uhlans in 1815. The 6th Uhlans were composed of Lutzow's Uhlans, Hussars, and the Bremen Volunteers.

The figures are now all painted up. The Bremen Volunteer figures started out as French Lancers and the rest are Calpe Landwehr or Hussars.

Blimey.

If you do nothing else, look at link Part Two for the end result.

I love a good conversion, me.

Metal dust everywhere, a snapped saw balde, bleeding digits, superglue on everything but the figure, Greenstuff which is just amazing…it almost seems to know what you are attempting.

Add the standard of painting, as here. I love this sort of work. This is creating something no-one else in the world has. Even these Perry folk can only hope, now, to copy you…….

I know there is a conversions forum on the TMP, but very, very, little relates to Napoleonics (indeed, almost exclusively Sci Fi, Fantasy, Zombies)….I wish we could concentrate work like this in a a new forum to show what can be done.

Excellent modelling, lovely paintwork.
Question about greenstuff, which I have never used. Are the plumes fragile or will they hold up under gamer handling?

Thank you all for the compliments. The live-in art director is quite tickled. This unit was her particular project and she put a lot of time into the painting.

Wrgmr1, this is the only project I've used greenstuff on at this point so I do not know. The plumes are fairly stiff, and can survive minor bumps. Its probably not a unit I'd loan out to someone who is not careful with how they grab their units. The plumes are uniquely delicate because they are so thin. The rest of the thicker greenstuff I'm not really concerned about.

Superb stuff… I'm attempting the same in 15/18mm AB's soon…so you've set the bar! Great job. Keep up the good work

Greenstuff is indestructible….but I have never created anything as fine as the end of those hanging plumes. If you start with a spread of wires base and build up with Greenstuff……will withstand anything.

Needs the central support for the finest work

If I were the your French opponent, I would grant them the honor of being shot at first!

Back when I was building Prussians, I wondered what this unit would look like painted up. Very well done!
