I have only used 3mm ply in the past – but have seen a number of 3mm MDF sellers which are much cheaper than the ply. I would be basing for Impetus so reasonably large bases – up to 60mm * 80mm. MDF left in my shed often warps in the humidity over time so I am concerned that these bases may also warp over time. Has anyone had any experience of this. Thanks |

Seal both sides and the edges with paint first. Warping is caused by the 2 sides absorbing moisture differently. Sealing should prevent it. |

I agree with cold steel. I use MDF bases from Litko and GF9 of up to 40x60mm and they've lived in my unheated Chicago porch through a couple years without warpring. Just to be sure though, I've spray-painted all the bottoms and sides with black paint and then with a spray varnish. |

I paint MDF all the way around with polyurethane wood sealant. I've never had a problem. |

nah never warped them heavy figures hold them down I have done hundreds of MDF bases , 6mm and 3 mm thick , nothing ever warps but for starters don't store your figures in the shed. |
