OK, so y'all demanded the pictures I promised here: TMP link This is my Hopkite army, using Amazon figures from Wargames Factory. More pictures of the army can be found at link and commentary of the various choices I made, as well as a history of how this particular army came to be, can be found at link

Very nicely done. I don't think I could paint the shields so well. |

Very nice, I may have to dig my box of amazons out and follow your lead! ( I thought follow your lead sounded better than steal your idea) but they do rather impressive and who wouldn't want a amazon army to command! Thanks for both sharing and inspiring at the same time. |

I too will follow the lead. Follow the plastic? I want them as an ally for my Hordes of the Thing Trojan army. The spear types fit nicely on what looks to be a 60mm wide base. Is this two boxes? I do need some mounted types to be Hippolyta, the Hero General of the amry |

Thank you for the kind comments! @Bobgnar: This is 32 out of the 48 that come from two boxes. Of the remaining 16, I have four ready to paint as another 4Sp element, 3 waiting to be converted to 3Cv, 3 that were converted for an abortive command element, 4 that were assembled by my daughter as otherwise armed, and two still on the sprues. I will need one more box of Amazons to add the elemnts necessary to turn this into both a proper Asiatic Greek army and a Kyrenean Greek army. I also haven't settled on what minis to use for a Camp Followers element. Oops. |

I've got a partially painted Fantasy Amazon army myself but can't get it looking right. Excellent shields, I always look on shields as the most visually important aspect of a hoplite army. |

Looks great. Those are some of the best painted amazons from WGF that I have seen. |

Punkrabbitt, Thanks for the comments. How will you make the Cv element? |

Thank you, Mashrewba. I have found that Foundry minis are noticeably smaller than the WGF plastics… I am going to cut the Amazons at the waist and glue them to WGF plastic Persian cavalry legs, and mount them on the included horses. Unless it looks horrible, but I hope it looks passable. For those interested, Eureka has a range of mounted Amazons in the Saka/Skyth tradition, I will be using that range when the time comes for my third Amazon army (after I finish my Libyan Amazons.) link link link link |

Upon reflection, I have decided that the 3Cv element for the expanded Amazon army will be fielded as 1Lch. I am going to be doing 3 chariots for the Kyrenean army mod anyways, and Light Chariot functions the same in-game as Cavalry. So, a chariot it will be. I much prefer the chariot look anyways, since I have the long term plan for a fully mounted Amazon army, and I like my armies to look as different as possible. |
