I based up some Essex knights recently. These came in a lot of otherwise bare medieval from TMP member VonBlucher who's work we will be featuring in an upcoming blog post.

I eventually gave up on the project and sold off the unpainted, but these were too nice not to add to my collection as a warband for games like SBH. I just did a bit of touchup of some chips, based them and added some weapons, so it's not really my work, but I thought folks might like to see them.

Also I quickly did up 10 individually based pavises to bulk my Kings of War archers from 10 and 20 man units, to one 40 "man" Horde.

More detailed pics of the knights here:

Karl,
Thanks on posting these and a great job on the bases. Just a little info on the Essex Knights as these were painted back in the mid to late 80's as part of my 25mm medieval army, that most of which is currently in someone else's collection from the area.

Thanks John!
I didn't realize how far back these figs went. They hit the table in our club's first try of "Open Combat" last week which will be up on the blog soon. Look for a write-up in a future blog post.

New life for old figs!

Nice work. I've always liked Essex figures--to my eye they have a great look to them.

In bare metal they look a bit squat and chunky, but no more so than Old Glory and the detail is better. When painted they are positively splendid.
