Does anyone here know folks from the Southend Wargames Club? I'd love to find out more details about the game posted in WI, under the Bovington 2014 article (pg 107) – specifically units, number of figs, etc. A buddy and I were planning to game Crysler's Farm, and had slowly been painting figures for the last couple of years, when he suddenly passed away from complications of a long time illness. The family was nice enough to let me have his American figures, and I still have my Brits/Canadians. I'd love to put on a game of Crysler's Farm for the local group, in honour of my friend, and the Southend Club game in the pictures in WI looks like it's just about the right size. I tried to Google "Southend Wargames Club" but I can't find anything that looks recent. Thanks for any info. |

Hi: I'm both a member of Southend Wargames Club and a director of Capitan Games Ltd. I have an Excel spread sheet with our orbat for Crysler's Farm which I'll be happy to let you have. I'm not sure whether TMP allows me to upload files but, if you e-mail mike@capitangames.com, your message should get to me and I can forward the spread sheet. The battle was, in fact, a play test for Capitan's newly-launched Divisional Commander tactical Napoleonic rule set (obtainable from our website via the link kindly provided by Robert. For the Bovington demo, we used individually-based 28 mm figures from Knuckleduster and Foundry and made a special rule for the game that 6 figures represented a "base" for Divisional Commander. This was done for aesthetic reasons but does demonstrate the flexibility of the rule set because everything went perfectly (the rules are designed for 15/18 mm figures based in fours). Southend used to have a website on a free Yahoo facility (Geocities) which Yahoo withdrew and we moved somewhere else. Sadly, the guy who managed the website left a few years back and nobody had the time to keep it up to date so it has become defunct. Hope all this is of interest. Cheers, Mike |
