As you know, each Saga faction requires special Saga dice. A 6 sided dice, they have 3 symbols on them (1 occurring once, one occurring twice, the last 3 times) In OZ, these babies retail @ $27 USD +P&P for a set of the 8 dice you need. I have an additional problem as one of my factions is Late Romans. As they are an "unofficial" faction, there are no commercial dice to match the unique LR battle board symbols. I played my first two games of Saga yesterday & I didn't have the correct dice. It was awkward to continually convert the standard D6 numbers to the Saga symbols on the battle boards. One solution is to print the readily available symbols* & glue them to cheap D6. Two other solutions occurred to me. 1. If I buy a set of Anglo-Saxon dice for my A-S faction, I can use them for the Late Romans simply by printing the symbols for the Anglo-Saxons & cutting them out & gluing them appropriately on the LR battle board (then laminating it). It's easy enough to work out which symbol equals which number & then converting A-S symbols to LR symbols. 2. Or, even, don't buy any dice, print out sets of 1-6 numbers & glue them on both battle boards. Hence I can easily use standard D6. Clever (if cheap)? |

you don't require those dice at all. in the back of the book there is a table that converts the symbols to numbers on a D6. the dice are cool though… |

I scanned the battleboards into CorelDraw and replaced the symbols with the corresponding number and printed them out. No longer awkward with D6. |

The dice with pretty, appropriate symbols(whether nice & official, or homemade with stickers) are part of the fun. I have a selection of recessed-decal dice I have gathered from closeout games, and make then as I need them. In the US, Target's relatively recent closeout of their "Army vs. Aliens" (and associated titles) dice game was a big help. My printer-fu abilities are pretty poor, but I can get by. I take the time to collect, model, paint, and base the minis, and then there's the scenery. This is a minor thing. |

You can make your own D6s with the symbols easy enough – why look for other options? I have made enough dice for 2 groups of Scots to fight 2 groups of Vikings, and it wasn't even an evening's work to apply printed stickers to the dice. |

It was >30 minutes to change the Battle Boards. Cost nothing, too. I appreciate people like to do things their own way. Is it alright if I do so? |

Of course its ok to do what works for you! Heres what I ended up doing. Blank dice, then the labels coloured in photoshop, printed out and stuck on.
