I finished this solo game back in June but real life and slackness prevented me from finishing the writeup until now. This is the third game in a mini campaign following a British infantry section through Normandy. The rule are NUTS! but converted to single d6's, and the writeup is in a comic style. This will be the last one of these for a while as I move back to other neglected projects. see the Comic at this blog post: link Here is page 3 as an example:

Hey, great to see you Shaun, and great batrep, as always! Damn, those Germans are clever, what with the Trojan Pig and all! ;) This will sound funny, but my favorite thing is the fact you can see the stripes on Airfix's arms. Just love it. Another thing: I may take a lot of casualties in my games, but at least I evacuate them! What's up with you? "Let's go Jonesy, get off your lazy butt!" Where's your compassion. And then you have the nerve to tell us you're going to lay this off to the side for another project!? Selfish, pure selfish! You know, you could save some time by doing a 'regular' batrep (though I do like the comic book look). Take care man, and I hope you get some gaming in soon. V/R, Jack |

Jack – I painted those striped in 1982. The Corporals with Stens I also painted in 1982 have stripes. I was using a figures I had acquired a few years ago. Obviously the person that painted them did not feel as I do about stripes! Jonesy could still walk, albeit slowly. Better than last time, when i just left the wounded on the table! I think I would find it hard to go back to a non-comic batrep after doing comic ones – the less than 10 men skirmish really lends it self to them! My other projects are almost all non-solo. One of them came to fruition tonight – game of ancients with my daughter (blog post to come when I get rid of a head cold). For the Christmas break – if it comes off – I have also lined up another 20mm game with the (now) 10 years, a few games of ancients Vs a friend, some Wings of War and possibly the third fantasy game (Kings of War) I have ever played. And a few solo things… |

Good Lord Shaun, you painted those guys when I was eight years old! I admire your commitment and longevity! But I'd watch my back, Jonesy is gonna roll a frag into your tent. And don't change a thing, the batreps are great! I was just doing my part to encourage to play and post more often ;) And all this upcoming non-solo play, I'm jealous! I look forward to reading the reports, ideally less than 6 months after the games were played ;) And look at Panda, he won't discuss wargaming, but can't help but to drop in to discuss barnyard romances… V/R, Jack |

And look at Panda, he won't discuss wargaming, but can't help but to drop in to discuss barnyard romances… The cheek…
Mind you I think I notice Shaun has a new avatar: Pink Elephant? Exceptionally large pink pig in his report. Should we read anything into this? |

Jack, Panda commented on what he knows best – terrain. I think I actually painted my the lance corporal in 1981, not '82! I thank you all for the comments and will try a little harder for more timely batreps. Promise! And note I promised a 'little harder', stress on the 'little'. Purple elephant. You correctly pointed out that no-one had any idea what my old avatar was. At least it is recognisable as something. I like elephants. I like purple. That was about as far as my inspiration went! Panda – i do look forward to reading about the Crossfire day when I can shake the head cold, which is worse today… The pigis really suited for 28mm figures, but I am not going into that size as Jack would have to follow me, as he did into 6mm and 20mm :-) |

I mostly read TMP for the vivid livestock depictions. |

Panda – Shaun went with the extraordinarily large animal to encourage you to keep your distance. And I saw you couldn't help but comment on the thread about sheep. Shaun – Hope you feel better. And I said you're an influence, not a good influence ;) Ivan – Vivid, or explicit? Dammit man, communism took everything from you! V/R, Jack |

Jack, I am am better, thanks. A storm here is Brisbane took our power out for about 16 hours, so I have been 2 days without the internet, a different type of pain! to paraphrase an Monty Python Oscar Wilde joke "There is only one thing worse than being an influence, and that is not being an influence." :-) It works in reverse – just look at the skirmish gaming I did that I *knew* I would never get into! |
