I'm planning on beginning a death guard army for the siege of the imperial palace, but Im uncertain of how sould I paint them. The fluff says that they become plague marines om the warp travel.to terra, but if I paint them as plague marines I won't be able to field them for previous events. What would you do? |

paint them pre-plague and add a few squads as plague maybe even a few plague with the old armour colour. just my two pence worth, my space pups have always had grey armour not the new blueish grey jon |

I'd go for the original Death Guard colours (mine will be). Colour scheme shouldn't matter at a tournament, plus, the plague marines armour style changed too as it warped and corroded (as did their bodies). Now there are many differing factions of Nurgle following chaos marines – I'm doing in mine in the reds, yellows and browns of autumn (fall) with some green. this is for the majority of the army – the cultists, normal chaos marines etc, I'll use more green on the actual plague marine models. |

The guys at adepticon used plaguemarine models painting them in the pre heresy colurs, wich seems fine to me:
Should I add nurgle mark to the forgeworld's books units to represent the chaos corruption? |

If I recall, GW was actually toying with saying canon colors DO matter at "GW" tournaments, but it never came to be. Not like I would ever do a GW tournament anyways. |

If you want them to double as plague marines, paint them pre-heresy and make sure that none of them have visible faces (they all have helmets). That way, all of the nurgle's rot can be contained in the suits. If you dirty them up a bit, then you can use that as either battling on a dirty planet or the slow incursion of the rot on the armour. So… helmetted marines with heavily weathered, pre-heresy armour. … and to add some demonic flavour… add some nurgle daemons to the mix. |

Paint them pre-Nurgle, then stick some gunk on them prior to the game, preferably somethomg that will flake off a bit durimg play or stick to people's fingers! Best rot simulation ever. |

Don't forget to add Nurgle banners to your units…. |

that helmets on idea is a good one, I'll paint them with extra grime, leking black fluid from eyes and mouth and inflict some superficial damage on the armour. |
