I suspect we all know about the existence of binary planets, and even trinary ones (IIRC), but now, it is believed that binary planets could also be possible as well:

Are binary planets more or less likely to be able to generate life?

This is an intriguing possibility for sci fi rpgs indeed, so long as such binaries were able to support life. I wonder, however, that the effects of tidal-locking and gravitational distortion might exert such environmental stresses that the development of life on binary worlds would be untenable. Or at least of an extremely unusual and rugged form…maybe little more than a few extremophile bacterial colonies.

I have no idea, but the gravitational issues are certainly interesting, in addition to all the other effects, e.g. grazing planetary surfaces, etc., and all the havoc that might cause.
