I have completed a Dad's Army/Home Guard/Early War British commission for a customer – he will be doing the basing.
All the figures are from the 28mm Wargames Foundry sets.

I used some pictures of Tony Barton's wonderful 1/6th scale figures as reference for Home Guard uniform, in addition to looking at stills from "Dad's Army" for the character figures.

I have left some stuff out, there are more pictures on my blog:

Very nice. I can't look at these without a smile on my face.

Very nice. I've been tempted by this range several times, but I always manage to resist.

Most excellent work!

I always think that the Home Guard and Volksturm are the best choices for 80% of military reenactors to recreate. They aren't glamorous, but so many reenactors, through no fault of their own, are unconvincing in their usual roles. But in the Home Guard or Volksturm, you can be as old, fat, near-sighted, feeble, or generally un-soldierly as you like and it's still perfect for the part.

Lovely job!

What paint did you use for the uniform. I have not yet found a khaki I am happy with.

jacksarge22 Nov 2014 3:18 p.m. PST

@Cerdic – I undercoat in light grey, base coat Vallejo English Uniform, a wash, back with English Uniform, highlight with Vallejo Green Brown, and you could do a third highlight with Vallejo Khaki if required.

Thanks everyone.
