After battling with a bad cold for most of the week, I finally got the battle report of the game I played last weekend (Dark Legion vs. Bauhaus):

Nice looking game. Ok, you've got several games under your belt now. Thoughts about what works well and what not quite as well in the game? Any comparisons too other versions of the rules?

Thanks,

John

Thank you both!

@ John: The comparison to the old versions of the rules is hard. While I played a lot of 1st and especially 2nd Ed. the last game I played was about 1 ½ decades ago. From my gut I can say, that the new rules have more of a 2nd Ed. feel to them, but again… that is more of a gut feeling than anything else.

As to what works and what does not. I think one of the most effective strategies is Rapid Deploying troops (essentially paradrops). With their recent rules revision, dropping them to take out the enemy Warlord makes less sense (and actually this really helped keeping the fun factor in the game). But they are still very good for keeping you enemy occupied and odd-balance plus taking out high value targets. But then again, I think there are lots of different approaches that can all be successful. Especially if you have a game with not just a primary objective, but secondary and corporates ones too, you can really play around with those.

The only think that I feel does not work out well yet are conventional (that is non-rapid deploying) close combat troops. Shooters are quite effective in the game, which makes cc troops too vulnerable.

Hope this helps!
