We want to thank the DBA organizers at Fall In (David, Rod and Roland) for the great series of events they put on and all the participants for the warm welcome they extended to us as new players. The competitions were quick, fun and the quality of the 15mm painted armies high. Our ‘competitors' were patient and willing to help us with tips and guidance. We each played 11 games over 3 competitions and we feel we came away with a good understanding of how to play the game and even teach others. We rolled well enough to win a couple of games and stay interested (and that was with rolling some really crummy dice too.) We particularly looked forward to the Holy Roman Empire campaign competition and it more than lived up to expectations. We look forward to participating in future DBA events.

It was a pleasure meeting you guys at Fall In… Hope we catch up in Michigan, or at Cold Wars.

DBA takes one key strategy, roll a six :)

Best regards,
Rod

How many players did you have over there, you seemed to have a bunch? I was a few rows over from you guys but you all sounded like you were having fun.

It was nice meeting you guys at Fall In. Hope to see you at another convention soon.

Depending on the tournament there were 8 to 18 players plus lookers on during the convention in the 'DBA' area.

Brian and Rod, hope to see you guys soon in the midwest.

Bill and Brian, glad you had fun with the HRE Campaign Theme. Those are often raucous affairs. I was pleased that we still got 18 people in spite of Fall In being lower attendance overall than usual.

If you've seen the notice, we're running a Parthia/Rome Campaign Theme at Cold Wars upcoming (what is it, March?). Advance registration as usual is on fanaticus.org

DKuijt,

FYI, according to a post by the Fall In convention director on another topic, Fall In reached a new record in attendance this year of 1900+. I don't know where you got your information of "Fall In being lower attendance overall than usual." Perhaps the players for the tournament area were down?

If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone with better numbers will correct me.

Good luck with your campaign game at Cold Wars in March.

47Ronin,

I don't have any numbers, just repeating what I heard. Rumor, not fact.

Can't speak to other games; DBA was doing about the same as usual. There sure weren't very many vendors in the shopping area -- although it may be I'm comparing it to the other larger two conventions at the Host -- halcyon days of yore before Historicon moved, back when Wargames sold tens of thousands of little 15mm Essex bags, and candy was free on every streetcorner.

So no, I don't have any numbers. Interesting that Fall In is growing, though.

I had 'heard' from one of the 'con staff that H'con numbers are dropping ( for what ever reason and has been discussed elsewhere) and that the Cold Wars and Fall In numbers are on the rise. So this isn't a rumour as such but also not all the whole way into the fact column yet, more fact than rumour I suppose.
Will try and get the real numbers from him later as opposed to the 'official' numbers the board put out.
