So, I've managed to get my hands on the mini book and the Overlord book. Very pretty books. I've tried to join the forum (Guild something) for the rules, but still waiting for an administrator.

Regardless, my primary forces are commonwealth troops (Indians) and Germans from the North Africa/Italy theater. I know that a North Africa book is in the works, but I am an impatient man. I want to play with my toy soldiers, NOW!

Quite frankly, I am not bright enough to make rules modifications;so, what changes, addendum, etc. are suggested/warranted in order to represent British Commonwealth troops in Mediterranean theater.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you need to change much at all. Anzio took place in late January of 1944. The Overlord book gives you the units for British, American, German. You can take a look at scenarios to see what the combatants had by way of support.

Seriously, I think you are good to go with Italy games. North Africa might be too early for what you have, but I would play with what you have to get a feel for the rules.

If you can get a copy of Battlegroup: Kursk they have German and Lend Lease UK tanks.

Sid,

If you are Sidkent on the Guild, your account was activated sometime ago, certainly over a week I think.

We currently have no memberships awaiting approval.

ah. That's not met. Though, oddly enough I tried to logon today and it allowed me in. Never got a message from the forums telling me I had been approved. ah well.

@45thdiv … that sounds good. I will read through it in detail.

@battle phlox I will pick up the other books, regardless. Seem to be very nicely done and a good resource even for other games.

I think the books are really well done. My only hope is to have the rules published in PDF so that I can increase the font size. There are days that my eyes just will not focus on the small font of the mini rule book. But on the days I can see well enough, I have really appreciated the way the game flows.

One other thing is to write up the armor stats with the gun stats. My hey were separated so the the gun stats could all be in one nice chart. But their attack information is not transferred to the tank charts.

Piers said they are working on something to help this issue. Me say it might be small cards that contain all the info you might need for a given tank or sp gun.

But I have not heard anything official. One can dream thought. :-)

Matthew, I did just that to save wear and tear constantly flipping pages back & forth in my books, I copied the data for the models I actually own onto a simple template and just print off the ones I need that day when preparing for a game. This helps because other players can have a copy of the units in their battlegroup list to assist them in the game.

We all like the way the action flows too, and the way the rules seem to reward real world tactics of the period.

Woz was working on a PDF rulebook…

45th division,
You could scan the pages of the rulebook on your PC and then increase the font size yourself. Print out the pages for your own use. (Disclaimer: I dont have this ruleset so dont know how easily the rulebook can be flattened onto the scanner or how many pages this would be)

I'm planning on using BGO for Sicily/Italy. Certain things won't be available yet like panzerfausts or 76mm Sherman's. Germans still had an air force at that point so might tweak a few things. No hedgerows, more hills!

@BuckeyeBob. Unfortunately the rule book is a tight square glue binding and the pages are quite close to the spine of the book.

You have a good thought there, but the book will not lay flat on the scanner without damaging the book and the binding.

I usually try to read it during the start of the day, before they eyes get too tired.

Matthew
