Hi Guys Following on from my series of posts/request for info on Austrian Naps it appears I need a Brigadier, certainly for Republic to Empires rules. Should a brigadier follow the colours of a General ie all the gold trimmings and red trousers or perhaps more like my mounted colonel ie normal regulation Uniform from the unit he is from. Can't appear to find many examples of Officers in my books compared to that of normal ranks . Are thee any books out there worthy of consideration in this regard? Many thanks |

It really depends on the rank of the brigade commander. If he is truly a general (generalmajor etc.) then he will wear the standard uniform of scarlet, white and gold. If he is a colonel (oberst) or below 'stepping up to the plate' then he would be in 'regimentals'. Differentiating ranks in the Austrian Army at the time can be difficult and at 28mm scale probably pointless but proper generals are easy to spot and fun to paint. |

Agreed! You want one of these bad boys link From the Seven Years War, but very similar during the Napoleonic Wars; my Austrian brigadiers are a mixture of the scarlet, gold and white and officers in grey waffenrocks |
