Which is great news for those of us who like sci-fi model kits and such for wargaming! evil grin

The Yen is getting beat up in the exchange rates right now versus the Euro, the Dollar, and the Pound Sterling, so now is a good time to put in your orders at HobbyLink Japan:

I'm taking shameless advantage to expand my space fleet from the classic Space battleship Yamato line and the new Yamato 2199 line, as the prices are more than a little ridiculous to be perfectly frank.

C'mon you apes! Ya wanna live forever?!evil grin

Thanks for the heads up, Leland. You have some of the new 1/1000 scale ships IIRC. How do they compare to the mecha collection ships? I am guessing they are bigger (more like the large scale ones they've had previously that sold for about twice the mecha collection price.

Dan,

You're correct for the most part. I have the set with the S-class dreadnought and the two DDMs. The two destroyers are just a bit longer than the Mecha Colle Garmilas warship (heavy cruiser), but still small enough to work IMHO for Full Thrust or say Firestorm Aramada as a capital ship.

For Silent Death, the battle wagon will serve for a large cruiser class warship for a project set for 2015 (Silent Death: Gods o' War). Meanwhile, the two destroyers are frankly perfect as Warhound stand-ins (just add Litko or CorSec two hex flight base).

Something to also keep on mind is that the EDF ships from Yamato 2199 are significantly smaller than their Garmillas opposite numbers, so the two sets of EDF ships would I suspect work quite well as the basis of a somewhat retro Japanese sci-fi movie vibe human fleet, especially since the first of the EDF sets contains a battleship, a cruiser, and two DDS.

Hope this helps!evil grin

Grimm,

first of all, if I've told you once, I've told you a. Thousand times, if you're going to make a 15mm sci fi super tank and you can't get a Maus, use either an IS-2 or one of the more modern MBTs like the Leclerc or a Leopard II. Seriously.

As for buying you anything, at less than $2.00 USD a whack for the original series mini kits, you have no excuse to be coming to me begging for goodies! You're young and frisky, so go mow a few lawns, save up for a week, and then go order a half dozen nice, shines new Warhounds for your crusading Sigurd Archdiocese fleet, and quit whining, and GET OFF MY LAWN, DADNABBIT!!! evil grin

ODB,

You didnt read the query did you?
Never said i couldnt find said monster. I was just questioning whether or not that you senility took over when it came to the question of scale.
The second query was on STUG's.
And it has been some time since people got their lawn mowed for $2. USD
And it is daGnabbit you old fuddyduddy. :-)

It's less a hammering and more of an intentional nosedive, but yes we should start seeing Japanese stuff looking a little more affordable – against the poind it's still 25% stronger than pre 2008, but it was 50% not long ago, so is progress. Versus the dollar it's just about what it was before the banking collapse – it shot up post 2008, which has been hurting the Japanese for quite a while….

Order placed…topping up on my 'complete' fleets….one or two (actually 7 ) ships won't hurt anyone……reminds me .. must build the kits ordered last time….. still stashed under the desk as I type!

Grimmnar18 Nov 2014 9:36 a.m. PST

LOL stashed. Are we hiding some things from someone? :-)

Looking for storage space, in my case. Those Kotobukia HAW206 multiped tank models are biiiiiig.

Dan Wideman II18 Nov 2014 10:58 a.m. PST

Thanks, Leland. If it stays this way into next month it may be time to try some of the 1/1000 scale ones. I have at least five of each of the Mecha Collection ships already. :) I plan to use them for Yamato though, not silent death, but there's no reason not to design some mega ships.

:)

Gaz004518 Nov 2014 11:10 a.m. PST

Stashed? I meant carefully stored for later……..

'What parcel was that?'…………

'I know nothing………..nothing!'

BlackWidowPilot Fezian18 Nov 2014 6:16 p.m. PST

Just put my order in to grow my fleets. Ordered several of the new Mecha Colle models and another of the 1/1000 scale Garmillas sets (the really cool one with the battlecruiser, the hyperspace submarine, and the two fighters).

I plan to test out the two Garmillas fighters against the mecha Colle Cosmo Zeros I ordered using the Silent Death rules. I have sent a message to Bandai via a contact in Japan begging them to produce at least one of the Garmilas fighters n the Mecha Colle series, as I would love to adapt Yamato 2199 dogfights to Silent Death: The Next Millennium much as others have done with Star Wars and Battlestar Galactic… evil grin
