A few photos from last week's Battlegroup Kursk game. The scenario had a German recon platoon that had taken a small railroad station and armored reinforcements were being hurried to support and consolidate the position; unfortunately the speed of the advance meant that the Germans had outrun the range of their own organic artillery support. Meanwhile a Soviet counter attack was being launched by a company of T.34's supported by light tanks, assault guns, Ppsh toting tank riders and critically, a battery of 120mm heavy mortars. The German force took quite a pounding, especially when the Soviet mortar battery zeroed in on the road running through the collective farm, knocking out the Tiger tank carrying the kampfgruppe CO, but the Russians were unable to press their advantage and seize any of the objectives in the time allowed. There seemed to be a certain lack of Socialist zeal among the Soviet commanders and a team from NKVD headquarters has been sent to investigate……
