A discussion recently on another forum was brought up, and I thought I would toss it out here to see what the general mindset would be. Please bear in mind that if you live in Australia, or in LA, or someplace where you wouldn't attend anyway due to distance, that this is more for those in the "local areas", (IN, IL, OH, WI, KY, MI, etc..) So the question being… "If there was a miniature gaming convention, (in the shades of Little Wars), held on a weekend in Indianapolis, would you attend? A: Yes B: No Interested in seeing what the answer would be….

Sure (I'm a coupe of hours away in Ohio). |
Ambush Alley Games | 17 Nov 2014 10:49 a.m. PST |
Yes. I'd drive up from Oklahoma to support a Con in Indy. Shawn. |
FreemanL | 17 Nov 2014 10:52 a.m. PST |
I would go as well. Total driving time to Little Wars is about the same to me here in STL as it would be to Indy. Would there be a focus to the convention as in tournaments or just any type of gaming? Larry |
Tommy20 | 17 Nov 2014 11:00 a.m. PST |
C: Maybe I drive to Indy for GenCon, and would possibly drive there for a Little Wars type con. The date is key, though. What time of year are you thinking? |
Saber6 | 17 Nov 2014 11:23 a.m. PST |
IF I were within 500 Miles I probably would for the right dates/events |
nvdoyle | 17 Nov 2014 11:30 a.m. PST |
Well, yeah. I live there. Sorta. :) |
zippyfusenet | 17 Nov 2014 11:35 a.m. PST |
If I could get the weekend off, yes. I miss a lot of conventions because of work schedule conflicts. |
Martian Root Canal | 17 Nov 2014 11:49 a.m. PST |
Yup. Chicago to Indy is very doable. |

Non-local: I fly from L.A. for GenCon, but I don't travel for other gaming cons. |
capncarp | 17 Nov 2014 1:25 p.m. PST |
It would be about 900 miles each way driving, flying costs even worse. Sorry, barring me winning the lottery, I don't see making it from Central PA. |

Maybe. Depends on what weekend and if I can get the wife to visit her family. |

Yes. Live in Dayton, Ohio and have already been to Gencon in Indy. |
The G Dog | 17 Nov 2014 4:20 p.m. PST |
I live between Cincinnati and Dayton and would be very likely to attend. I attended a very large national convention in Indy at the convention center earlier this year and had an enjoyable time. The key questions would be where in Indy this event would be held and of course – when during the year. There is a robust number of gaming opportunities in the region. Timing would be an important factor. |

If the cost of the weekend wasn't outrageous. (Hotel/Con fees/etc.) |
Extra Crispy | 17 Nov 2014 5:04 p.m. PST |
Love to. I'd run play tests of my new rules all weekend. |
Mute Bystander | 17 Nov 2014 5:17 p.m. PST |
C: Maybe. D. depends on when and if I had the money. Nearest city with (wife's) family is South Bend so hotel cost is a factor. As is drive time. |
Tumbleweed | 17 Nov 2014 5:43 p.m. PST |
Indy is a great town. I would go in a heartbeat if I had the vacation time. |

Great idea to move Historicon to Indy. I would happily travel there from Detroit area. |

Yes, I would most likely attend such an event. |
shthar | 17 Nov 2014 8:36 p.m. PST |
Maybe, it's only 8 hours from KC. |

Yes, definately. Unless there was a conflict on that weekend- I do a lot of camping and backpacking with Trail Life USA. Now perhaps I could get the boys to choose that instead of the outdoors. Murphy do you have something up your sleeve? Don't forget to ask Norris he will often want to run an ACW game, like he does at JohnnyCon. |
TimHerr | 18 Nov 2014 7:06 a.m. PST |
It's only 2 hours away, so probably. So long as it didn't conflict with work trips (like every local con this year). |

I live in Australia and have been to Indy twice for conventions, the last in August. It's "the" convention city. |

I woudl be attending Gen Con wiht my fantasy friends… I haven't done thta in years. |
Nidaron | 25 Nov 2014 6:38 p.m. PST |
Yes, I think Indianapolis would be a great place for a convention. Also, My brother/sister in laws live there too so I would have a place to stay. Let's do it! |
rampantlion | 26 Nov 2014 1:40 p.m. PST |
I would love to see it. I live here in Indy and I would be happy to run games and help in any way that I could. Some in my gaming group have experience with running a con and I am pretty sure that they would help and run games also. We have even talked about it in the past. Please let me know if this starts to come together. Allen |
