For battlegroup, my understanding is that the FoW based figures can be used. Any specific changes that need to be made to the bases to use them? Or, as I don't play FoW anymore, better to just re-base them all on individual bases?

Also, would Battlegroup work, in terms of table space needed, for 28mm figures? What table size adjustments would need to be made for going from 20mm to 28mm?

Thank you.

Just have to watch casualty removal for infantry and crews. Also make sure gun teams have the same amount of crew. For example, some AT guns have three crew in Battlegroup and four crew in FoW. As long as you pay attention to that no real need to re base.

Agree with Battle Phlox on use of FOW stands---just have to pay attention to number of figs for crew in some cases.

As for playing with 28mm figs, have not done that, but I think you could play with regular distances, esp for smaller games.

Head over the the guild forum----lots of great discussions:

We have a few chaps playing in 28mm. They dont change anything but tastes may vary…

For the 28mm figures, the largest table size I have available is 6x8. Would that be viable for up to company level games?

Depends how much you wanna throw on the table!

In 20mm I tend to prefer smaller amounts on big tables, but yer should be ok on a 6 x 8 especially with the way troop arrival works.

"14th Brooklyn" posted a few nice AAR's for Battlegroup using 28mm:

Is there a "spotting" rule in BG ?

nazrat17 Nov 2014 7:47 a.m. PST

Yes. Every time you try to direct fire at any other unit you must make a spotting roll.

As to spotting, the QRS lists it in the observation table.
If you're a vehicle firing, you're going to be seen. Vehicles, in general, are much easier to see than infantry, as it should be.

One of my friends has 15mm FOW based armies but uses them exclusively for Battlegroup now; if he's hosting we use them with no modification to the rules whatsoever and they work just fine. Just need a few markers to count casualties on his multiple bases.

I've always had 1/72 stuff so we could never play each other with the same system until we discovered Battlegroup, now we play it all the time!
