First off, I'm still using Rapid Fire I rules and do not know if any of this has changed in version II. The H.Q. units of American infantry/armored infantry battalions are made up of a CO +5 figures with a 60mm mortar. I see this as four figures in the command element and the two man crew for the 60mm mortar. There is also a heavy weapons company of 12 figures. In other types of U.S. battalions with more weapon element in the H.Q. you will still have at least 2 figures in the command element. When you get to the Paratrooper battalion the heavy weapons company is combined into the H.Q. for CO+15 figures. If you count the five weapons elements at 3 figure crews each that you are left with only one figure for the command element. It seems somewhat strange. |

It seem somewhat strange. Why? Bear in mind that each figure in RF represents more than one actual men. Can't remember the number off hand but I think it's about 1:15. |

I know it is a bit "out of fashion" now, but I still like RapidFire. |

I still play it too! I would just add an extra figure it look daft. Or maybe drop one of the weapons crew. Paratroop TOE were probably very unlikely to survive intact in any case. |

Does the 60mm have a crew of 2. therefore CO +1 for HQ and the rest in teams. |

Yep, just checked. In the Rapid Fire 1st Supplement it states: "As a general guide the scales used are approximately 15 to 1 for figures and 5 to 1 for guns and AFVs." (p7) |

Miniaturealm, you have the answer. The 60mm would only have a crew of two. Makes me feel much better. Thanks, Vince |

It's Rapid Fire! If you don't like it, just make it up. |
