Hello to everybody i introduce myself i'm Pier from Italy.untill now i only posted on gaming boards….in the past i produced and sold some miniatures in 20mm/1:72 and 28mm aimed to wargame under the label Italwars. I'm considering to revamp the production also with new series ecc.. i would like to know, please, if any miniature producer (i'm thinking at plastics) had ever tried to allow his designs to be casted in China..or even to make them design/sculpt minis and then mass produce them..i surf trough Alibaba platform and, for what i understood, it seem a good possibility..but i would like to know from some of use ..implications, cost, quality, reliability issues ecc.. thanks in advance |

'IP protection is very lax there.' Or, when your contract ends, their production may not… |

In case your idea of producing in China is to save in labour costs, I'll wait They copy your models to save in copyright. Quid Pro Quo. |

Thanks Mark and the other menbers…to speak with manager from other big manufatures like HAT would certainly be the best approach..but i doubt they would let me know, speaking from a microecomic point of view, their production secrets/contacts.. |

Hard to say. You might think "I won't send my figures to be cast in China even though it's cheap because they'll recast them," they might do it anyway by getting ahold of your figures somehow, especially if they're popular. I see resin "Forgeworld" models offered all the time from China and Russia, even Germany. |

I can't remember who it was now, but a couple of TMPers basically lost their business because of some shady deal they made to have their figures cast in China. Figured it wouldn't hurt, and next thing they knew, they didn't have a business anymore. |

Perhaps you are thinking of Tony Reidy, however it wasnt because of the Chinese' shady dealing that he lost his business, but his own. |
