Sorry serge,

not even sure if there is a question

You want to have another stab at it…?

If it helps, Napoleon once described the Kingdom of Naples, troops as being "no better than no troops at all"

Is this about the medical service? Service de Sante relates to those who provided primary care for casualties, till my predecessors got hold of them!

The Spanish, Neopolitans and Russian militia at the battle of Borodino come to mind.

"Useless as t**s on a boar hog" is the phrase we used in the army…

I believe Suchet had a fit when asked by Napoleon to command the Neapolitan Army.

Remember they had to protect themselves and their patients from murderous locals or irregulars! Certainly in WWII UK armed forces medics, quite legally, could carry sidearms for just that purpose. Soldiers, yes, but should be non combatants, so long as the other fellow respects that!

An interesting question. I do wish you would take a little more time to pose your questions more clearly. You have raised some interesting topics before!
