Woe upon ye who hath the hubris to cast a miniature snail. Mrs. Muerto has oft joked about her snail army, sending a line of their emoticon likenesses after me via the social media, noting them guarding the bedroom window on raining nights, and denouncing those who eat our mail as defectors whose rebellion must be crushed. And so, for her upcoming birthday I set out to gift her said army in metal or resin. The shocking truth is revealed unto you as it was unto me: One company has a sprue of four snails for a swarm, as well as long and unsympathetic threads here and on LAF baying for blood over unfulfilled orders, despite serious personal problems. Another has a green for a surprisingly-ungoofy flail snail, and has just declared inability to send it or other items off to fulfil Kickstarter obligations. Pitchfork-weilding threads sure to follow soon. Yet another are less insulant to the Shelled Mollusc God, having but a gorgeous giant slug, but yet they have calls for a boycott over crowdfunding issues. Reaper, who I will name as the problems aren't serious, have encountered a delay for Bones II completion, and sure enough, a search of their back catalogue finds a snail hidden in one of the familiar packs. Proof of a causal link that any reporter would find hard not to publish! Beware, Scibor! You are as yet unscathed by the curse, but woe betide you! Woe! Wooooeeeeee! Or, put another way, does anyone know where I might find some miniature snails, in any size? Or, how detailed is the Reaper one? |

Many thanks Terrement. The problem with Alibaba is this: "Min.Order Quantity: 3000 Piece/Pieces" Though her army is legion, that is more than I can paint. |

I think I've got several armies in the yard, so why cast them when you can use the real thing? Of course, herding them, and/or getting them to array in a battle line is proving very difficult, since they are a very undisciplined lot. Perhaps they could be used as berzerkers on a smooth tabletop, as long as my opponent does not employ the usual table salt defense. Another plus, is they already come pre-assembled, and pre-painted, which is nice. They'd be especially useful for fantasy, or sci-fi games. |

While not a snail, one could attach a shell to this.

I'm not sure if I've seen on at Michael's in the toy animals bins – it might have been a hermit crab instead, but you might check out Safari. Edit – Hmmm, this isn't what I was thinking of, but if the elf dude is separate, it might work: link Forgot, Splintered Light has a set in their Gnomes range, but they come with a howdah! link |

But snail miniatures are necessary, especially if you play D&D. The characters may run into this monster: link Edit: Looks like someone already has made the miniatures: link |

"Woe upon ye who hath the hubris to cast a miniature snail." Pretty sure somebody somewhere at some time tried to vulcanize a mold filled with real snails and it didn't turn out too well (not least for the snails…. ;-) |

Cheers all. Nic, I'm ashamed that I didn't check Eureka before asking here. Truly you are a gentleman and a scholar. |

For future reference, there's also this: link As one cake-making person ranting on Amazon discovered, it's a model of an edible snail, not an edible model of a snail. The latter would be obviously useless for gaming. |
