Hello I am wondering if anyone can tell me whether the new Blenheim 1704 book by James Falkner put out by History Press is the same book as the author's Blenheim 1704 put out by Pen & Sword about 10 years ago. While I generally buy anything that comes out on the WSS, I don't really want to buy the same book twice, as I have done that enough times without intending to do so. Thank you |

AussieAndy, Looks like it is a new book – the copyright is 2014 and 160 pages long. It forms part of a Spellmount (now part of the History Press) mini-series Battle Story. This would suggest that it is a new book. The Battleground Europe Blenheim 1704 by Falkner was published in 2004 and has only 140 pages (and I suspect more illustrations). Technically it is supposed to be more of a guide to the battlefield given the series in which it appears. However one does have to wonder whether in Blenheim 1704 (Pen & Sword), Marlborough's Battlefields (thicker book by Falkner part guide and part narrative) and Blenheim 1704 (Spellmount) Falkner is doing little more than repeating the same old stuff. |

Thank you. That is helpful. I agree with the last paragraph. It is hard to imagine that there is going to be anything new in the latest book, but I'll probably buy it anyway. |
