I didn't go looking for it, but I found someone's 3D computer model of what the rooms would look like, based on the 1956 film and sketches:

This other guy even has an actual blueprint of the Krell lab:

Enjoy!

PS. I wonder if anyone is ever going to make a set or two of 15mm figures "inspired by" the crew and other characters in the film. :(

This documentary makes me want to watch the film again:

Wow. These really give a new meaning to the term "fan":

That blueprint looks like a "Doom" map. FP would make a cool sci go dungeon crawl!

With the right paint, and a tiny amount of putty on the weapons, do you think these 15mm Khurasan Miniatures "henchmen" could work for the crew?

Cheers Dan! Those links were absolutely brilliant! Love "Forbidden Planet", wrote a paper on it way back in college!

Loved it then, especially as my family name was Robbie, and I it still holds its charm all these years later.

Wasn't quite the kind of movie I saw when it first came out, but remember plenty of TV-watchings.

As I recall, I found myself wishing an errant breeze would waft through the scene and disturb some leaves on a certain view-obscuring bush.

And it seems that Airfix made 1/72? figures inspired by the movie:

There was once a resin kit of the "Id Monster" too…. Couldn't tell you the scale (fan-based "garage kit", probably larger scale than useful for most minis), but the one I saw was cast in a clear reddish resin.

…probably larger scale than useful for most minis…

I think it could vary in size, but there were a couple of scenes where I thought it was HUGE.

Didn't it tower over everyone when it was trying to get through the forcefield fence?

(Wow, just typo'd 'I' instead of 'it' the second time. Talk about your delusions of…)

I always wondered how it made it into the ship, through tight hatches and everything.

… Unless it was growing in size and power during the course of the film?
