We are very pleased to accompany the release of the Thrainites with the 15mm versions of the MDMS vehicles, the Goanna/Taipan tanks and the Cane Toad APC. These vehicles are widely used in the Freeholds and by auxiliaries to the Federation who do not have access to Federal Army vehicles or prefer not to use them. Users include the Jasmine Throne, some Control Battalion units, the Sister of Celestial Peace, the Selpuvedan Provisional Army, and of course the Thrainites.

The tank is usually called the Goanna but when equipped with the huge railgun is termed the Taipan. The tank can either use a sentient biological crew or can be entirely robotic (all Goannas use a robot driver). The crewed vehicle can either have a double barrelled laser turret for close in defence or a missile pod. The fully robotic tank instead has a grenade launcher array for protection against close assault.

The vehicle can mount three different main guns -- the railgun, a standard tank barrel, or a rotary cannon. All three are provided and both a crewed and a robotic turret are also in the set, meaning you get a great deal of swappability in the model. Below is an image of all of the main variants possible to build, and the images also show the secondary weapons choices (all of which are supplied).

Here's an image of everything that comes in each set:

The Cane Toad comes with two secondary weapons choices -- the missile pod or the twin laser turret:

The vehicles above are painted in the scheme used by the armoured battalion of the Zhent Separatists in the western desert campaign on Tau Ceti 3. After the defeat of the Separatists they were bought back into MDMS stock and sold to the Thrainites, who used them in the same colour scheme until they recently got a repaint in overall olive green.

Designed by the mighty morphing John Bear Ross. Both kits are available now. There's also a platoon pack of three vehicles available at a discount. Currently the vehicles are part of the Thrainite listing (at the bottom of the Thrainite codes) but they will be broken out soon into their own line….

Love to see size comparison shots of Thrainites, and the two vehicles compared to a normal Khurasan human.

That APC may be the first tracked vehicle to appear on my Colony Planet. The boot of the oppressor has arrived.

They make a great family.

Some previously-rendered eye candy, in case you haven't seen it.

Turrets and many other accessory bits are compatible with the Red Banner series of MBTs, in case you need to make some field repairs. ;)

are the hatches separate on the models??? they look it in the shapeways pictures but not on the real models….

khurasanminiatures12 Nov 2014 9:34 p.m. PST

Hatches are posable opened or closed -- I wouldn't have had crew halves made for them otherwise. grin

For some reason, those vehicles remind me of the cool semi-futuristic micromachines vehicles that came in every sixth one of the military packs…So cool, and soooo tempting…
